He sent his family and I’m not sure who else his manifesto before (I don’t know how long before) he charged through the lobby. His brother, immediately upon receiving his manifesto called either the police or FBI. His family was aware that he was acting differently and they were concerned. The parents live in my parish (don't know if they're Catholic like me but to give you an idea of how this hit home) in a lovely old middle-class neighborhood. You could walk to their house from my kids' former parochial school. They do look like nice people - the kind that would definitely pick up the phone and call law enforcement, multiple times if necessary.
They look like a regular American family celebrating the holidays together. I hope they don’t feel any guilt. The did what most people couldn’t make themselves do. Huge respect for his brother who immediately called the FBI as soon as he received the manifesto. My hands would be shaking so hard.
